Scampo, located in Boston's Beacon Hill, was named the best restaurant for Italian food in Massachusetts by the Daily Meal, possibly because of its Mediterranean and middle-eastern influences that make its menu stand out.

Scampo's chef, Lydia Shire, is an award-winning chef and trademark of Boston's culinary scene. Her Italian-inspired dishes with a global twist are served up in a chic restaurant space with a 'glorious' open kitchen, according to the restaurant's website.

The one-page menu offers entrees with seafood, pasta, and a variety of meats, including fresh Maine crab ravioli with an english pea velouté, a rack and saddle of charcoaled Colorado lamb with Turkish spices, and a whole wheat spaghettini dish toasted candied walnuts and gorgonzola dolce.

"Service was excellent," said one Yelp reviewer. "Food delicious. Ambience was warm and cheerful. The pasta was fresh and the sauces complex and delicious."
